HOW IS AN EXERCISE PHYSIOLIGST DIFFERENT TO A PERSONAL TRAINER?
Exercise Physiologists differ from personal trainers, in that they must:
· Complete a minimum 4-year bachelor degree, and
· Complete continuing professional development and work under a code of ethics.
DO YOU HAVE A CANCELLATION POLICY?
We value both yours, and our time. We do not have a cancellation fee. We do ask that you please try to provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
HOW LONG IS AN EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY APPOINTMENT?
Initial Assessment (45 minutes)
Initial assessment is required before moving to any other EP services. During this session we will discuss medical history, injuries, concerns and goals. We will also assess your current exercise capacity, which may include some light exercise. A valid Enhanced Primary Care Plan by your GP will cover this. Private health rebates are available for this service.
Standard Consult 1:1 (30 min)
A standard consult is a one-on-one that follows on from the initial assessment. This session may be used to review your current program or it may be used as a supervised exercise session in the gym or clinic room. This is a 30 minute consult. A valid Enhanced Primary Care Plan by your GP will cover this. Private health rebates are available for this service.
Extended Consult 1:1 (60 min)
An extended consult is a one-on-one consult that follows on from the initial assessment. This session may be used to review your current program or it may be used as a supervised exercise session in the gym or clinic room. Private health rebates are available for this service.
Group Consult (60 min)
For those who require minimal supervision in the gym, but need a little support with their program, we offer group sessions. Group sizes vary from 2-10 people, each with their own individual program to work on. These run in the clinic on selected days. Private health rebates are available for this service.
DO I NEED A GP REFERRAL TO SEE AN EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST?
Your doctor may recommend that you see an Exercise Physiologist, but a GP referral is not required.
However, if you are eligible, you can claim up to 5 Exercise Physiology sessions per calendar year through Medicare on a ‘Enhanced Primary Care Plan’. We advise that you speak to your GP to see if you're eligible.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Please wear comfortable, flexible clothing that will allow you to complete a range of exercises.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Please bring a towel, a water bottle and any relevant scans, medical reports, or referral letters.
DO WE OFFER HOME CONSULTATIONS?
We do offer home consultations by request. Please email us at ben@yp-ep.com.au or phone us on 0475 250 851 to discuss your options.
